Aaron Xiaolong Wang

1st Year Graduate Student | Ph.D. Program in Philosophy

My primary interests are in metaethics, moral psychology, philosophy of mind and cognitive science. I think about the nature of normativity, the relationship between valuing and value, the psychology of morality, agency and responsibility, self-knowledge, mental representation, emotion, etc.

Currently, I focus on the relationship between normative notions like value, reason, fittingness, and ought. I also have secondary interests in epistemology, normative ethics, applied ethics, and Chinese philosophy.

Before joining Columbia, I completed my MA in philosophy at Western Michigan University and my BA in philosophy at Shandong University. I also spent a visiting semester at Rutgers University (New Brunswick).
