Ph.D. program in Philosophy

My research focuses on philosophy of language, especially on the interface between semantics and pragmatics. More broadly, I am interested in questions concerning context-sensitivity, modality and conditionals, as well as metasemantics. In my dissertation, I investigate how context interacts with semantic content, arguing that the meanings of context-sensitive expressions are shaped by public questions we address in conversation. Before coming to Columbia, I received my B.A. and M.A. from the University of Salzburg. I also have a side interest in papyrology.
