6th Year Graduate Student | Ph.D. program in Philosophy
I am interested in various topics in analytic metaphysics and meta-ontology, but in recent times my mind (or brain, for reductionists) has been specifically occupied in figuring out what is going on among a whole and its parts. I believe that identity is a much more interesting relation than one might expect, I love possible worlds and am not afraid of thinking they are real, I am addicted to counterfactuals. In addition to this, I am convinced that we still have a lot to learn from the great philosophers of the past and I always try to find time to read them.
Before starting my PhD at Columbia, I got both my BA and MA degrees from Scuola Normale Superiore and University of Pisa. During those years, I had the good fortune to spend some time as a visiting student in Leeds, Geneva (eidos, the centre for metaphysics), and Barcelona (LOGOS, the research group in analytic philosophy), which host vibrant communities of philosophers who have taught me to love academic research.
Besides philosophy, I love: gangster movies, all kinds of good literature (but on-the-road novels, those I cannot stand), classical languages, Italian coffee, the sunlight, Rome (although I’m originally from Milan). In general, beautiful things.
