1900 to 1950
You can use the Columbia Libraries Commencement Collection to pinpoint dissertations written during much of the first half of the 20th century. Search commencement programs for listings showing the major subject area “Philosophy” for Ph.D. degree recipients, then use CLIO or ProQuest to find dissertations. Note that using the Commencement Collection requires setting up an appointment to visit the Columbia University Archives.
