Anthony E. Garruzzo

Anthony Garruzzo (Ph.D. Columbia University, 2025; B.A. College of Charleston, 2017) is a postdoctoral Lecturer in the Core Curriculum teaching Contemporary Civilization. His research focuses on the social and political philosophy of the group of philosophers sometimes called the French Nietzscheans, especially Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, and Georges Bataille. His current project aims to reconstruct the conceptions of systemic power and historical transformation that these philosophers elaborate through their creative interpretations of Nietzsche’s thought, especially his understanding of contingency, the will to power, and the subject. He also has interests in the philosophy of art and political theology.
