Nico Osorio

M.A. program in Philosophy

My primary interests lie in political philosophy and aesthetics. Within political philosophy, I am particularly interested in theories of justice, fairness, political obligation, and the social contract, especially questions concerning the relationship between individual freedom and political institutions. I am also increasingly interested in aesthetic theory, particularly the philosophy of music. Having played and written music for most of my life, I am interested in philosophical questions surrounding artistic expression, interpretation, and the role of art in human experience.

Before attending Columbia, I received a B.A. in Philosophy from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University, where I was inducted into Phi Betta Kappa.
