Ph.D. program in Philosophy

I specialize in logic and metaphysics. My work centers around philosophical questions concerning the structure of space and the nature of spatial reasoning. My dissertation examines how modern geometric methods (Fourier analysis, projection theory, measure theory, etc.) can shed new light on long-standing philosophical issues concerning the infinite divisibility of space, the independent existence of space over and above the objects within it, and the ontological status of extensionless entities such as points. I also maintain significant interests in epistemology, ethics, and the history and philosophy of science (especially Kant). Before beginning the PhD, I received a BA in mathematics, with high honors, from Columbia University. I also spent a year studying mathematics at the University of Cambridge as an Oxbridge Scholar.
