Salvador Jaimes Molina
M.A. program in Philosophy
My interests lie in questions of identity and ethics at the intersection of philosophy, religion, and psychoanalysis. I am particularly drawn to how modernity, and ideas from the philosophy of religion, German idealism, and psychology shape our consciousness and inform our understanding of the self. Drawing from hermeneutic traditions, I think critically about culture, society, interpretation, and ethical life.
Before joining Columbia, I studied psychology, philosophy, and biology at the University of Sioux Falls and earned a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. After seminary, I worked as an adjunct professor, served as a community organizer focused on anti–labor trafficking efforts, and founded a public chess club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
